Remote Consultations

Remote Consultations

Remote Consultations:
Due to additional knowledge required for some service lines or if you don’t have prescribing authority, it may be necessary to perform the consultation remotely via video conference with a specialist (ie: Travel Vaccinations). Please note there may be a fee for this service.

Overview:
The consultations will usually take place with the patient in your consultation room via video conference. At the end of the consultation, the specialist will generate the prescription. You then take over by generating the consent form, obtaining the patients signature and dispensing the drugs as prescribed. It is your responsibility to ensure the patient has filled out their questionnaire prior to the appointment start time to save time during the appointment.

(If you wish to perform the consultations yourself under the authority of a medical directive, you will be required to provide proof of both educational and practical competency and at the doctors sole discretion they can extend their medical directives to include the consultation process. If you wish to use your own doctor as a medical director, the training and procedures may vary but we can assist with script generation procedures and medical directives for their review and signature.)

How it works:
HQ3 provides the platform to connect you with a network of medical advisors. If you are connected to a specialist who is offering remote consultations you will have the option to select this in the service line setup, using the 'Remote Consultation' field. If you have a specialist selected, all appointments will be booked as a remote consultation with this specialist.

What this means:
- You will need the ability to video chat (web cam / speakers ect).
- Your public booking hours for this service line will be updated automatically to only show availability when both the specialists schedule and your internal public booking hours sync up.
- For internal booking a remote consultation you will now receive a warning if the specialist is not available. This is to prevent you from booking a remote consultation when they are not available, and to allow you to over ride in special cases.
To find out when the specialist is available, use the filter on the right side of your calendar (from the monthly or the day view) to filter only on the service line that is setup for remote consultations, the days & time slots in white will update accordingly.

Conducting an Appointment:
- The specialist will be logged into their own account from where they will have access to view your appointment and all related details to this appointment.
- They can add drugs to the appointment and will generate the prescription.
- You then take over by generating the consent form, obtaining the patients signature and dispensing the drugs.
NOTE: It is important that you do not re-generate the prescription after the specialist. This will result in over riding the prescribing authority and the consent form will not generate properly.
