Follow-up Appointments
Follow-up Appointments
Follow-up Appointments:
There are many different reasons why a patient would require a follow-up appointment. Maybe they need to receive the 2nd dose of a multi-dose vaccination, have registered for a multi-appointment program, or would simply like to have their cholesterol levels re-tested. We have built a number of solutions to manage follow-up appointments and they are explained below.
Follow-up Appointment Indicators: (Follow-up) appears in brackets beside the service line name with the appointment.
NEW! Follow-up Appts Tab in Appointment: This tab will appear in the appointment if there is a follow-up booked, or a follow-up is required.
Follow-up Appointment Preferences: Go to the setup menu > service line setup > select a service line > on the 'Follow-up' tab. You can set the follow-up appointment length, fee and fee name which gets applied to all follow-up appointments for this service line regardless of the type of follow-up appt. NOTE: You can choose to apply the regular appointment fee to follow-ups by using the checkbox on the charges tab within the service line setup.
Follow-up Appointment Types: There are four different types of follow-up appointment, they are explained below.
1. Follow-up Appointment Based on a Drug Schedule:
Drug schedules can be configured per drug and prompt the follow-up appts to be booked. They can be booked in 3 different ways:
(A) Book follow-up appointments 'automatically' at the time you add the initial dose of a multi-dose vaccination to an appointment.
(B) From the appointments follow-up tab that appears in the appointment after dispensing a drug which requires a follow-up shot.
(C) Via the 'Follow-up Appointments Required' list.

2. Follow-up Appointments Based on a Service Line Follow-up Schedule:
Service line follow-up schedules can be configured per service line and prompt the follow-up appts to be booked. They can be booked in 3 different ways:
(A) Book follow-up appointments 'automatically' at the time of booking the initial appointment (internally).
(B) From the appointments follow-up tab that appears after completing the appointment which requires a follow-up (or the day after the appointment).
(C) Via the 'Follow-up Appointments Required' list.

3. Follow-up Appointments Based on the Service Line preference 'All Appointments After First':
- If the preference in the service line setup follow-up tab 'All appointments after the first' is selected, then after the first appointment all preceding appointments (booked online or internally) for the same patient with that service line will be designated as follow-ups.
4. Manually Designated Follow-up Appointment:
- There is a checkbox 'Follow-up Appointment' on the service line selection step of internal booking.
> If checked, the appointment will be designated as a follow-up.
(IE: This can be used for if the patient has already received the first dose of a multiple injection vaccine, and is now coming to you for the first time to receive the 2nd injection.)
