Billing Tab

Billing Tab

Billing Tab:
A patient's billing tab is found in their patient record or their appointment. You will see the same billing tab regardless of where you access it from.

How it works:
- When you dispense a drug, the drug fee is added to the patients 'open invoice' on their billing tab.
- When an appointment is booked, the appointment fee is added to the patients 'open invoice' on their billing tab (unless configured not to).

Open Invoice:
- This area holds all charges that are considered outstanding.
- You can manually add 'Appointment Charge', 'Miscellaneous Items', 'Custom Charge'  and/or a note.
- When you 'generate and close' the invoice, this marks the items as paid and moves the invoice down into the history.
~ You have to select a payment method before the 'generate and close' button will work, this is to allocate the funds in the activity report to help with closing totals at the end of the period.
~ You can 'Print Open Invoice' if you need to. Open invoices are not included in the activity report, therefore it's important to close the invoice once payment has been made.

Invoice History:
- You can access closed invoices here with the ability to:
~ Edit (you may need to do this if a change was made after generating, this will also balance the activity report.)
   ~ Email
   ~ Print

Online Credit Card Transactions:
This area only appears if you are processing payments and refunds online. (If you are, an
d you do not see this box please check with head office and/or tech support regarding permissions.)

Preference:
There is a preference to 'Use Billing System' on/off if you don't wish to use it...
- Go to the Setup menu > Preferences > Branch Preferences > Preferences tab.
~ If this is checked off the billing tab and miscellaneous items will be hidden.
